The first time I heard the term “spark joy” I didn’t like it one bit. I thought it sounded wish-washy and phony. Then I read the book by Marie Kondo called the Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up. This book changed my life.
Now I use the term spark joy on a semi regular basis… not quite every day. I love my plants; I have a beautiful orchid and a pineapple plant. I bought my boyfriend a terrarium also, and I love it as well. I enjoy having a tidy home; however I try not to spend too much time cleaning. I love coming home to a neat bed so I try to make it every morning. I love my cat Stampy. I love my family and my boyfriend’s family. I love candles. I love my day planner because it helps me make time for the things I want and need to do.
I can’t name everything that sparks joy for me, but this book really made me consciously think about how I feel about everything I do. I have pretty much stopped everything that doesn’t spark joy, and I am incredibly happy and my life is improving day by day.
