Adulting (v): to do grown up things and hold responsibilities such as, a 9-5 job, a mortgage/rent, a car payment, or anything else that makes one think of grown-ups.
If you’re wondering, I got that definition directly from www.urbandictionary.com, I just love that website.
I feel that there is a little more to it than just working 9-5 and bill paying, I mean working 9-5 and paying bills is not very much fun. Adulting can’t be all boring, can it? Here are five things I think are awesome about adulthood:
1. Learning New Things
I didn’t actively go out with the intent to learn how to cook, but I have cooked so many meals and love learning how to cook new things. My boyfriend loves my cooking, and so do I. I also love the first time cooking something especially when it turns out great.
2. Planning and Saving for Things and Experiences
Saving up money for that dream vacation or new camera or whatever you want is not easy. When you finally get the item or vacation you have worked so hard to get; pure bliss.
3. Discovering New Interests.
About a week ago, I went to play laser tag for the first time ever. There were a lot of kids – but it was honestly so much fun shooting people! Loved it.
4. Living on Your Own!
It’s not cheap, but it is also totally worth it to have your own space! You don’t have to worry about waking up your roommate, or cooking for someone else, or cleaning up someone else’s mess, and you get to decorate it however you want!
5. Doing What You Want, When You Want
When I was a child, I couldn’t wait to grow up because I wanted to be able to do whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. Guess what? I still feel that way. Obviously, there are still responsibilities, but being able to prioritize your to-do list in the order you want to; so liberating. Sometimes I get wrapped up in doing the things that need to be done that I forget about the things I want to do.. I just make sure to have a few fun things on my to-do list as well.
